There are some very, very big boxsets coming out. So clear your shelves, schedules and wallets for these monsters.
All these details and prices are correct as on October 27th 2005 on www.play.com
First we have Futurama. This Matt Groening creation is funnier and more original than The Simpsons but never achieved the same level of fame. The complete box set contains all 4 seasons spread over a nice 15 discs for £55.
Next is Only Fools and Horses. This complete collection contains all the episodes and specials over a hefty 25 discs for £140
Now for Buffy and Angel. A pair of big boxsets containing 7 seasons of Buffy and 5 seasons of Angel. Buffy weighs in at 39 discs for £130 and Angel comes in with 30 discs for £110.
Finally. Friends. This 10 season monster is the must own boxset this christmas. At a staggering 60 discs for an equally impressive £150 this is sure to test your shelf strength and your bank manager's patience.
Special mention needs to be given to The X Files. I don't have a disc count for this but all 9 seasons for £135 sounds good to me. Essential if you missed it the first time. If you didn't then you already have them all.
In other notable releases. Extremely dull US phenomenon Lost hits DVD, Star Wars Episode 3 excites everyone, Ricky Gervais' painfully average Extras arrives, Ronnie Barker is remembered with several releases including the 12-disc Essential Ronnie Barker boxset and we return to Tall Oaks as Matthew Stifler, Paul Finch and Jim's Dad take center stage in American Pie Presents: Band Camp.
EDIT
Forgot something. Some hilarious extras complete what was one of the stand out comedies of the year easily standing up Jimmy Carr's funny but pointless Friday Night Project. Nathan Barley will cost you a mere 14 of your English pounds. Well worth it.
